How to Check Your Lifeline Application Status

Federal Lifeline eligibility status belongs to USAC's National Verifier. Device assignment, shipment, activation and billing belong to the provider. Checking the right system avoids unnecessary duplicate applications.

1. Federal eligibility status

Use your official Lifeline account / National Verifier or contact the Lifeline Support Center. USAC can help with application status, requested documents, recertification and account access.

2. Provider enrollment or device status

After federal eligibility is confirmed, the provider controls service enrollment and any device promotion. Questions about a phone model, stock, payment, activation, shipping or tracking should go to that provider.

Provider Information

Common status situations

USAC asks for documents

Follow the instructions in your official Lifeline account or notice. Submit the requested proof through the approved channel. The document needed depends on what USAC could not verify automatically.

Eligibility is confirmed but no provider is selected

Use USAC's Companies Near Me tool to find participating companies serving your area, then compare current service and phone terms.

Provider says the phone changed or is unavailable

A specific phone is not guaranteed by Lifeline. Ask the provider for the current model, condition and price before accepting a substitute or different offer.

You are waiting for shipping or tracking

Check the provider account or contact provider support. There is no universal federal device-shipping timeline because USAC does not ship phones.

You moved or your address changed

Keep your Lifeline information current and re-check which providers serve the new address. Provider choices can change even if your household remains eligible.

You are considering a second application

Check the existing application first. Lifeline is generally limited to one benefit per household, and duplicate enrollment attempts can complicate the process.

No universal “24-hour approval” or “5-day shipping” rule

Eligibility can be verified automatically or may require documents. Provider enrollment and device fulfillment are separate. Any specific timing should come from the official system or provider handling that step.

Lifeline Support Center

USAC says its support center can help with application status, documents, companies in your area, recertification, household worksheets and account access.

Phone: (800) 234-9473. USAC currently lists support-center hours as 9 a.m.–9 p.m. ET, seven days a week.
